Good for your garden – good for the earth
Project objective
Strong adoption and correct usage of the new green waste service by Lake Macquarie residents.
Project outcome
Material collected in the first three months of the service was 99.7% contaminant free. The project won the 2014 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards organics category.
Everyone’s a winner with this project. It costs us nothing, it saves Council money and that gives us more because rates can be used elsewhere and the compost that is used in the environment.
